The first part of our Ching Ming routine was to travel to Sungai Petani to join Daddy's godfather, godmother and sister in paying our respect to our beloved Popo (little Gabriel's great grand mother).
Before we drove to Sungai Petani, Ah Koh (auntie Suan Sim) came over to Penang because our GongGong (little Gabriel's great grand father) was cremated at the Reclining Buddha Temple (Wat Chayamangkalaram).
After a brief ceremony, we hit the road and was on our way to Sungai Petani. Our Popo was cremated at a Siamese temple - Wat Damrongrattanaram (Siam Wat) in Sungai Petani. On the way there, Daddy stopped at the old town of Sungai Petani to buy some chrysanthemum. Our Popo loved colorful flowers :).
After visiting our Popo, it was time to have lunch. Lunch was very sumptuous because Ah Gong (Daddy's godfather) and Ah Po (Daddy's godmother) cooked lots of good stuff.
Little Gabriel helped himself to the rice and soup. He also insisted to drink from Ah Gong's glass. It made all of us laughed :).
Beside that, little Gabriel also made Ah Gong and Ah Po very happy. He greeted them, saying "Popo" and "Ah Gom" (Ah Gong in Guai Low-ish accent :).
All in all, it was a very happy day with lots of things to learn and to experience. We really hope little Gabriel is going to remember this traditional!
